A Coffee Pot Terranium

Have a look at this wonderful idea for reusing an old coffee jar and creating a garden fit for a fairy kingdom. This crafty idea...
was envisioned by Enid at "A Charming Project", showing how to create something magical from an everyday object.

Enid uses succulents for her terrarium as they are extremely hardy plants that require very little attention and thrive within these kinds of environments, but there's not stopping you adventurous gardeners out there from trying to use other plants.

These are the required materials:

  • Sand
  • River/Aquarium rocks
  • Moss (bright moss tends to work best)
  • Small succulents
  • Decorations (gemstones, shells, minatures etc.)
  • A clear glass coffee pot

How was it made?
  1. First you start by filling your coffee pot with about an inch of sand for the succulents to root in to.
  2. Place the succulents into the sand.
  3. Next you scatter the rocks around the plants and position to how you'd like it to look.
  4. Once done, place the moss over the rocks.
  5. Finally decorate and re-position as you please until you are finally happy with the ensemble.
Tip: Place your succulents close to the edges to give them sufficient light gain.

Succulent Care: Recommended misting everyday, preferably in the morning. You could also dunk them in water 2-3 times a week. Best kept in a bright room away from direct sunlight.

It's just so simple so why don't you try it at home. Let us know how you get on with this little project too!
